Guapo's Interview

I never thought as a television news journalist that I’d write a children’s book, but here we are! It’s been a great joy to spend time with children and share important life messages of diversity, love, friendship, and inclusion, built around a true animal rescue story. I’m honored to bring them comfort, especially right now, when kids are being traumatized in so many ways. Watch the full interview.

A very informative and entertaining piece by KCAL and KCBS reporter Luzdelia Caballero on Guapo.

I couldn’t be more excited to publish my second children’s book, GUAPO’S GREAT RESCUE. This gentle giant remains close to my heart and has offered me a wonderful opportunity to speak to children about kindness and compassion, all based on true animal rescue stories. I’m grateful to my co-author, Wendy Perkins, and to Lara Calleja, who captured the spirit of Guapo and his friends with her beautiful illustrations. We continue to support animal rescue with book proceeds, so every purchase helps!

podcast...

It was a real pleasure talking with psychotherapist, TV commentator, and author of ‘Your Best Age Is Now’, Dr. Robi Ludwig on her wonderful #TalkingLive Facebook podcast. We get into the inspiration behind my writing Guapo’s Giant Heart, a story about real animals learning to live together despite their differences. I hope you’ll listen as Dr. Ludwig shares her thoughtful perspective on why it’s important to give children the space through books to understand and work through their own emotions about feeling left out, or maybe not connecting in a way they would like to. I’m proud to have been a part in creating a learning tool that opens the door to talk with kids about important life lessons of diversity, acceptance, and kindness. Thanks again Dr. Robi for an invigorating, and hopeful conversation! LISTEN HERE.
